Ron Burgundy’s Scotch: Great Odin’s Raven Special Reserve
By the beard of Zeus, Ron Burgundy makes a pretty decent blended Scotch. A combination of Speyside, Highland and Islay whiskies Great Odin’s Raven was created to celebrate the release of Anchorman 2. As a fledgling effort of the man better known for reminding us all to stay classy it’s quite a tasty little tipple.
Blended in Scotland by burley men who wear kilts, toss cabers and battle monsters in lakes they call lochs this whiskey is as powerful and masculine as the main man himself. Legend has it that Ron tasted over 300 barrels of whisky in a single day before creating this blend as his night cap. Not because he had to, but because he wanted to. His keen senses, which are enhanced by his magnificent moustache, picked up the exact barrels he would be using the second he landed in Scotland. The 300 barrel tasting was just for fun.
Overall it’s pretty darn good for what it is. It has a sweet, fruity and mildly spicy nose and palate that really exhibits the Speyside and Highland qualities of this whiskey with the light peating from the Islay playing backup and balancing everything out. There is something special about this whisky and should you come across it don’t hesitate to grab a bottle.
